We pulled up to dump at Alliance Coach in Wildwood, Florida and there was one motorhome already dumping. I let my engine run for about 10 minutes thinking I would be pulling forward since that couple looked like they were finishing. Both of them were outside at the dump site and were using the classic “stinky slinky.” Since I was pulled up behind their coach (in line), I could easily see what they were doing.
I finally shut down my engine and waited… and waited… at least another 10-15 minutes. Since we were going to dump before we hooked up our car, Sandy was in our car behind our coach. She finally walked up to the couple and started talking to them.
Another 10-15 minutes passed, I’m still sitting in our coach watching them, and they are working diligently still dumping. Now there is another coach pulled up in line behind Sandy. The couple dumping is continuing to dump and doing (what seems like to me) strange things. He picks up his sewer hose and works it hand-over-hand so the contents will all flow out of the hose. Okay, that’s normal but he does this at least 6-7 times. Now at least 45 minutes have passed.
Finally, he dumped the Grey Tank and then FILLED the grey tank with water to apparently flush it! He did this once.
They put everything away and pull into a campsite. We pull up and dump. About an hour after we pulled in behind him, we dumped and left.
When Sandy and I can talk, she told me that the couple was new, and was apparently being super-careful. First, he used his built-in Black Tank Flush (and that’s fine) but would use this to TOTALLY FILL his black tank and dump again. Each time, he would check the debris coming out the end of the sewer hose and if not clear, would fill the tank again. He filled it with the flush two times (that we know of), totally full, and dumped it.
While setting behind him, I noticed that his coach was lower on the passenger side and distinctly higher on the driver side (not the best for a complete gravity dump of the tanks). So, I know he had a residual amount of black still in the tank (from his coach being tilted). I didn’t say anything about this. I assumed that if I did and he tackled the rest of the stuff, he might be still cleaning that tank!
I feel certain his tanks were pretty clean. However, if he had just tilted his coach slightly to the driver’s side, his tanks would probably be even more clean.
